The task was to rebuild the rewarded video integration from the ground up, while also implementing new ad technology to the game OFM. The goal was to create a higher user engagement by finding new rewarded video placements in the existing game and also create ideas for new in-game placements, which required deeper game changes.
Over the course of 12 months we implemented 6 additional rewarded video placements in the game, increasing the number of monthly ad impressions from 450k to a peak of 8.4 million in Oct23 (+1866%).
Changing ad technology enabled Mothership to connect and manage direct demand partners in a hybrid waterfall setup. A combination of Prebid- and Vast demand partners, as well as the direct programmatic monetization helped to increase the fillrate, while keeping the cpm stable.
This is a great example of how rewarded video can create a win win win situation, making the game more accessible for new players(retention), generating a serious uplift in ad revenue and also increasing the total engagement with the game.
